Doctor - Patient Partnership: simple responsibilities of both sides

During communications with patients a doctor should:

✔️ Explain everything in understandable language (ex., using simple words),

✔️Maintain professional ethical boundaries,

✔️Respect the patient as a person,

✔️ Make clinical decisions in diagnosis and treatment, but NOT fulfill the patient's wishes.

🧓🏼 What the patient should do:

✔️Tell to the doctor a truth:

- about health problems (symptoms),

- about medications, those he / she uses,

- about following doctor's recommendations (yes or not);

✔️ Respect the doctor and his boundaries;

✔️ Be responsible for following the doctor's recommendations:

- prescriptions and explanations are the doctor's responsibility

- following them is the patient's responsibility;

✔️ Visit the doctor and collaborate.

Both - the doctor and the patient - are on the same team during treatment.

❤️ Good treatment is possible, if a doctor and a patient have a mutual respect and responsibility!

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Tatiana
