Colonoscopy is a way for Colorectal cancer screening and diagnosis.
How to prepare?
Please, look below ⬇️
➡️ 3 days before #colonoscopy follow a diet.
You have to EXCLUDE 🔴:
- rye or rye-wheat bread, freshly baked yeast products,
- mushrooms,
- fatty meat and sausages,
- legumes (lentils, peas, beans),
- nuts & seeds,
- sweets and dried fruits,
- greenery,
- milk,
- raw vegetables and fruits (including yoghurt with pieces of fruit),
- strong coffee, alcohol, carbonated drinks;
➡️ 3 days before colonoscopy stop 🔴 medications with iron, bismuth and Phosphalugel / Almagel / Maalox / Gaviscon etc.,
➡️ life-saving medicines you can stop 🔴 2-3 hours before morning time step of bowel preparation,
➡️ in the evening and morning before colonoscopy your doctor will recommend you to use a special medication to "clean bowel" (Moviprep, Fortrans, Lavacol ctc.).
ℹ️ Usually I recommend Fortrans (1 bag / 15-20 kg body weight, example, for a man with weight 80 kg we have to prescribe 4 bags of Fortrans).
✔️1 bag of Fortrans need to dilute in 1000 ml of water. Need to drink 250 ml every 15 min (1 bag = 1 L during 1 hour).
✔️For my patients I make a schedule how to use Fortrans (evening step, morning step). Your doctor also will give you exact recommendations.
➡️ How to drink Fortrans easy:
✔️ start preparation after 2 hours or more after the last meal;
✔️ they have to diluted with a large volume of liquid,
✔️ easy to drink them, if they are cool;
✔️ it is better to take each glass in small sips, preferably through a straw, over 15 minutes;
✔️ you can drink them with clarified apple or grape juice; if nausea, hold your breath while taking a sip and immediately wash it down with water or juice;⠀
✔️ you can suck on a slice of lemon if nausea;
✔️ watch an interesting movie or TV series in preparation;
✔️ drink the solution and walk, do NOT sit down or lie down immediately.
ℹ️ For some patients doctor can recommend intestinal lavage (enema) instead above mentioned medications. This procedure we usually provide at hospital.
