Joint pain during hormone therapy for Breast Cancer

❓ Why does this happen?
Hormone therapy (HT, endocrine therapy) lowers estrogen levels in your body.
This directly affects how your body stays flexible and healthy:
- Joint stiffness: Your joints become less "springy."
- Cartilage wear: The protective cushion in your joints can thin out.
- Inflammation: Your body may react with more swelling and soreness.
📌 How it feels:
- You feel stiff, especially right after waking up.
- Your hands, knees, or feet ache.
- You might feel like your body is "aging" faster than it should.
ℹ️ Key things to remember:
- This is NOT all in your head.
- It is a real side effect of the medication.
- You should NOT just "tough it out" alone.
👍 What helps reduce the pain:
- Keep moving: This is the most important part. The less you move, the more it hurts! Best activities: walking🚶🏻♀️, swimming 🏊🏼♀️, easy stretching, or yoga🧘🏻♀️. Even 15 minutes a day makes a difference.
- Heat therapy: Warm showers 🚿, baths 🛁 , or heating pads help relax stiff joints.
- Check your levels: Ask your doctor to check your Vitamin D and Calcium 🩸
- Healthy fats: Omega-3 (fish oil) 💊 can help lower inflammation.
👩🏻⚕️ Important: If the pain is too much, talk to your doctor.
They might adjust your dose or suggest a different medicine.
The goal is to finish your treatment while feeling as good as possible!
